Harbin isn’t only the provincial capital of Heilongjiang as it is also the official location of the Harbin International Snow and Ice Festivals. These are generally held every January 5 and are ended when warm weather starts to melt the ice sculptures. During this season, you’ll be able to see traditional small snow and ice lanterns being hung all throughout the city, while some of the bigger lanterns are created using modern technology like lasers.
